Oh yeah, courtesy of Homeland Insecurity! This bunch of these blanks is particularly discriminatory against women! We change our names much more than men do--I'm working on my fourth name right now, and I'm only 61--and I'm sure glad I'm not working on my seventh or eighth name, as some I know! Even though m7y appearance has not changed appreciably--or any at all for that matter--since I got my ID less than a year ago in California, I must gather an incredible bunch of paperwork, including records of all three of my marriages. Of course I don't have any of it, because my last ex decided that he would keep track of the paperwork, but then he left, or made me leave, and kept all of the docs. It is, among other inconveniences, going to cost me more to get the docs that I need. Again I have to try to work my way throught all of these blank pages that are much like my life.
What do you mean by blank pages? I'm actually interested in changing my name, though not by marriage, or divorce, and I know there are places that will fill out the forms for you. In NJ, at least, it's not as difficult as you're describing but I know every state is different.
Actually, if it's from a divorce, I thought that comes automatically once the papers are granted. I guess it's not as easy to change your name after a divorce as after a marriage?
I know some people who have changed their name after a divorce, but I really don't know what it involves. It can be done, though.
I wonder why people would do that?
